The Polk County Historical Society has some exciting events coming up this summer! In their published newsletter for June and July, they’ve highlighted some old favorites with a few new additions for this month and August as well.

This month, the Museum will host an additional weaving class for $25, including instruction and materials. Anyone who attended the last weaving class may attend for free. This will take place on Saturday, June 11 at 2 PM.
Additionally, a two-hour beginner’s genealogy workshop is starting up this month at the Hawkes Building. The cost for the workshop is $35, and the first meeting is set for Saturday, June 25 at 5:30 PM. More workshop dates will follow in July, so keep an eye out for updates here on Polk Today.
PCHS’s annual Military History Day will be on Saturday, July 30 from 11 AM to 4 PM. This event will feature the Pacific Theatre artifacts and history. PCHS urges anyone with any information, photos, or items to display to give them a call.
In August, the Quilt Show is coming back, but with a location change and a hosted market! This event will be held at the Historic Van Wert Church.
At the market, PCHS will be renting out tables for vendors to sell fiber arts and materials, along with weaving and a large quilt display. The quilt show will take place on Sunday, August 14 at 2 PM.
