PCPD: Cedartown man facing traffic, possession charges following DUI stop

Jason Ordie Gulley

A late night traffic stop in the Rockmart area ended with a man in custody charged with marijuana possession and DUI, according to reports.

Polk County Police charged Jason Ordie Gulley, 29, of a Cedartown address, with DUI and other related offenses after marijuana and a glass pipe were found in the vehicle during a search.

Officers stopped Gulley just shy of 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday night, February 19, 2025 at the intersection of Highway 278 at Industrial Road in the Rockmart area when he was spotted swerving between the center and outside lane several times while they followed behind him.

Police could smell marijuana coming from inside the car, and Gulley admitted that he had smoked three hours prior during initial questioning, then changed his story to an hour prior when asked again during further questioning.

PCPD called for Rockmart Police to help with a field sobriety test, and while waiting for them to arrive an officer searched the car and found “numerous marijuana roaches” alongside a grinder, glass smoking pipe, and a plastic bag labeled “Cake Pop” with suspected marijuana inside.

Amid the search, Rockmart officers showed up and conducted the test, noting to PCPD he was indeed unsafe to drive at the time and suspected of driving under the influence.

Gulley was cuffed and taken to jail without incident.

He was booked into custody early Thursday morning for misdemeanors for failure to maintain lane, DUI – drugs less safe, possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession and use of drug-related objects.

Gulley was later released on a $5,000 bond.
