A Rockmart-area man remains in custody awaiting word on whether he’ll get bond after being booked into custody on charges related to child molestation allegations, according to a Polk County Police report.

Robert Hershell Williams, 54, of a Rockmart address, was jailed on Wednesday on felony charges of child molestation, sexual battery against child under 16, and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

The allegations were made first to Rockmart Police on September 8, and an investigation got underway when it became clear that Polk County Police had jurisdiction.

PCPD reported at least two victims came forward to provide information to police.

Due to the nature of the allegations, no further information was immediately available.

Williams was booked into custody on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 18. No bond had yet been set on the charges.
