A man was released from jail on bond after being arrested earlier this week following a weekend-long argument between himself and the victim, according to reports.
Jonathon Painter, 42, of a Rockmart area address, was arrested late on Monday night, December 9 following a domestic altercation at a shared residence.
Per the report, Painter was accused of slapping the victim twice during an argument that had spanned the weekend.
He was found by police believed to be intoxicated based on his appearance and mannerisms, and with a mark on his forehead from where he was alleged to have been pushed into a doorway.
The victim in the incident said he fell into the doorway and knocked himself in the head, and they had additional evidence to prove their accusations of being struck: text messages apologizing for his actions.
Painter admitted to striking the victim when questioned about the message by the officer, and taken into custody for simple assault under the family violence act.
He was later released on the misdemeanor charge on a $1,000 bond.
