PCPD: Man charged for public indecency following report from EMT

Richard Wesley Escutia

A man suffering from a mental episode was charged after he was told not to expose himself to emergency personnel while in an ambulance, but continued to do so during a ride to Polk Medical Center on Tuesday.

Officers charged Richard Wesley Escutia, 31, of a Cedartown address with public indecency after he exposed himself to an emergency worker during an ambulance ride.

Per the report, police initially got involved after a 911 call about his behavior brought officers out to his residence. He was in the midst of an episode, the report explained, and had caused damage inside the home and caused serious concern for the safety of others in the household.

Officers were able to convince Escutia to voluntarily take a ride to Polk Medical Center to be checked due to his episode, but before the ambulance left for the hospital Escutia exposed himself to one individual attempting to help him, then did so a second time on the ride to PMC in front of a second individual.

After he was cleared at the hospital, police took Escutia to the Polk County Jail without incident.

He remained in custody on the misdemeanor charge on a $1,000 bond as of this posting.
