PCPD: Man jailed on weapons, trespassing charge

John Edward Swindall

The FLOCK system proved its worth on Sunday when a man accused of trespassing in Rockmart was tracked down in Cedartown when one of the cameras picked up his vehicle and police were able to make a stop and an arrest.

John Edward Swindall, 57, of a Cedartown-area address, was booked into custody on Sunday afternoon, October 13 after his vehicle was being sought after a trespassing report given to Rockmart Police.

The FLOCK system picked up Swindall’s vehicle in Cedartown on South Main Street, and an officer caught up with Swindall on North Main Street near Kroger after being informed by Cedartown Police.

He was pulled over and taken into custody without incident due to the Rockmart Police charges.

When officers were conducting a search of his 2002 Mazda Protege, they found a rifle and a pill bottle with “unknown tablets” inside his trunk.

Due to Swindall being a convicted felon, he was charged with a felony for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or first offender, and a misdemeanor for criminal trespass. He remained in custody as of this posting at the Polk County Jail on an $11,000 bond.
