PCPD: Woman fled from flipped Jeep jailed for battery charge

Polk County Police caught up with the driver of a Jeep that flipped on Piedmont Highway late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, and ultimately arrested her for a domestic battery charge.

Reports stated that officers arrested Emily Cade Mason, 28, of a Cedartown-area address, was booked into custody around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 10 following an incident where she was alleged to have chased, ultimately tackled and bit the victim during a domestic assault.

Police got involved after they first received a report about a Jeep that had flipped on Piedmont Highway near the intersection of Palmer Road just after midnight on Sunday. A group was found around the wreck and most left, but one stayed behind to tell officers Mason had been behind the wheel and fled from the scene.

When officers went to go find Mason at home after they cleared the wreck scene, they first found the victim of a domestic battery who told police what happened. They then went to the home to try and take Mason into custody.

Mason attempted use her body to barricade the door of her home before officers pushed through and cuffed her. She claimed no knowledge of the wreck or the assault, then later on the ride to the Polk County Jail told the officer driving her there that she was defending herself from the victim.

Bond had not yet been set for Mason as of this posting.

She was charged with a single misdemeanor count of battery under the family violence act.
