A Cedartown-area man somehow avoided the long arm of the law twice in September, but justice caught up with him over the weekend according to local reports from law enforcement.

Justin Allen Bragg, 35, of a Cedartown-area address, was booked into custody Sunday after getting away from two different department during the month of September on two separate occasions.

Back at the beginning of September, Bragg was accused by the Polk School District Police Department of stealing a contractor’s vehicle off the Cedartown High School campus.

Per PSDPD Chief Michael McGee, warrants were taken out following the theft that occurred while workers were busy on the campus on Sept. 1.

When the Polk County Police thought they had tracked down Bragg in mid-September when he was spotted in the Judkin Mill Road area in a van and had come up as wanted on those same warrants for the vehicle theft.

Officers found Bragg’s van after turning around to follow him parked next to a camper and went to investigate. Another man came out and told police that Bragg was inside, and when hearing this he ran from the camper and into the woods where the officer lost track of him.

Additional warrants were sought for his arrest on obstruction of law enforcement officers.

The Polk County Sheriffs Office finally caught up to Bragg on Sunday, October 1 and he was taken into custody on multiple charges including felonies for probation violation, theft by taking and entering automobile or other vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony. He was also booked on the misdemeanor obstruction charge from his Sept. 16 encounter with police.

Bragg remains in the Polk County Jail on a $14,000 bond.
