PCSO deputies honored with commendations

The Polk County Sheriffs Office recently honored a few of their own staff members for doing good within the jail facility, even saving a life.

Per a Facebook post from the agency on Friday, Jail Officers Ivie Barnett and Cobey McFry’s commendations came after they were able to prevent a suicide within the jail.

Their “attention to detail and observation which enabled officers to get vital assistance in preventing an inmate suicide attempt” was the reason why they were giving a commendation.

Alongside the pair, Former Cedartown Fire Chief & Deputy Scooter Stephens was also honored on Friday.

Stephens “lended his knowledge to jail staff in instructing them in emergency fire and water systems in the jail.”

The Sheriff’s Office also recognized another trio of employees for longevity on the job.

Brian Cook was honored for 10 years of service along with Amy McCown, and Stacey Puckett was recognized for his 5 years of service to the Sheriff’s Office.
