Expect a Polk County landmark to re-open in 2022, just across the highway from Rockmart High School and just a piece down the road from where it was.
Pizza Farm used to be located at Knox Mountain Road up from Rockmart High School before a fire destroyed the property at the beginning of 2021. Now a year later, the new restaurant is being built not far down from the old on Marquette Road near Highway 113, right across from the school complex.
Owner Tommy Sanders reported that since family and friends gathered for a ceremony and broke ground in August, the construction work has been moving forward and now real progress is being made as the new facility is set to be weatherproof, which means they can begin working inside.
Despite weather delays in recent weeks, the construction work moves forward and Sanders said Pizza Farm will be open early this year.
“I expect that we will be open again by mid-February,” he said. Though that is pending any additional weather delays that might hamper construction work. However, as the building is dried-in it will allow workers to move indoors to complete interior work and prepare for an opening day sooner rather than later.
Sanders thanked the community for their continued interest in the progress, and said further announcements will be coming soon.
It has been a full year since the fire that destroyed the old Pizza Farm, which had been home to the restaurant for nearly five decades.
