Police: 62-year-old man was tased four times in drunken struggle with officers in late Friday arrest

Christopher Scott Miller

A Cedartown-area man remained in the Polk County Jail after he got into a drunken struggle with officers attempting to investigate a domestic incident late Friday night, according to reports.

Police ultimately arrested Christopher Scott Miller, 62, of an Old Esom Hill Loop address, after they initially received an out-of-state call for help after a complaint about a potential domestic incident was underway.

Officers arrived around 11:30 p.m. at the Esom Hill-area home and first spoke with an elderly individual involved in the situation, then encountered an intoxicated Miller, who at first slammed the door on officers while they were on the porch. He then dragged the individual inside and tried to slam the door again, but an officer stuck his foot in the door and they followed inside.

Miller was reported by police to take up a fighting stance, then tried to tangle with police when he refused to back down. During the altercation with officers, they tased Miller four times until he finally settled down enough to be taken into custody. During the struggle, officers reported that he tried to grab the taser that was being used to try and end the fight.

Several times during the altercation, police also reported that he made multiple threats to kill the officers he was struggling with at the time.

He then struggled to be carried outside and had to be dragged into the back of the patrol vehicle. Police also noted that he banged his head against the window several times before he was taken to the Polk County Jail. Officers called ahead to warn that he would potentially cause problems during his booking.

No harm came to the elderly individual who was at the home with Miller at the time.

Police booked Miller on misdemeanor charges of simple battery, three counts of obstructing law enforcement officers, two counts of simple battery against police officer/law enforcement dog/corrections or detention officer. He also faces felony charges of two counts of terroristic threats and acts and removal or attempted removal of weapon from public official.

He remained in jail since early Saturday morning with his bond denied.

I’d like to see a follow up. Evidently this man, my neighbor, posted bail this morning. HOW when his bail was denied?
