Police asking residents around Pleasant Valley Road in Floyd County to check trail cams in search

The hunt for Jimmy Brian Blackmon continues in the area around Highway 101 and Pleasant Valley Road in Floyd County, and now police are asking people in that area for a specific request: footage from trail cams.

Blackmon is wanted in the shooting death of Ginger Leanne Green Blackmon, 36, on Sunday evening in a domestic incident at their residence on Rice Road. Here is previous coverage of the shooting.

Polk County Police asked on Facebook this afternoon for people in the area to check their trail cams for footage as they search for any signs of Blackmon, who is still on the run and considered armed and dangerous at this time.

He has an active warrant for his arrest on murder charges.



Jimmy Brian Blackmon, 50, of a Rice Road address in the Rockmart area, is wanted by the Polk County Police for murder.

Blackmon, 50, was last seen in the area of Pleasant Valley Road and Highway 101 by his son late Sunday night after ditching his vehicle in the parking lot of the East Rome Walmart.

He is a white male coming in at 5-foot-8, 190 pounds and has brown eyes and dark brown hair.

Today the Polk County Criminal Investigation Division, K9 Unit, and Rockmart Police searched the woods off Highway 101 and Pleasant Valley Road in Floyd County for Mr. Jimmy Blackmon or any evidence of his being in the area. At this time we are asking anyone in the area with trail cameras to check them. If you have something on there that’s suspicious we’re asking you notify us. Thank you for your cooperation.
