Police reported that while Jimmy Brian Blackmon was on the run, he was hiding in several locations as the investigation into the shooting death of Ginger Leanne Green Blackmon continues.
Blackmon, 50, remains at the Polk County Jail with his bond denied following his capture in Carroll County on Horsely Mill Road on Monday morning by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. He was found in a wooded area of his father’s property according to information shared by Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd following his arrest.
Detective Caleb Bowman shared some additional details about his whereabouts prior to his arrest. According to Bowman, the main suspect in the homicide of his wife was hiding out in the area of Pleasant Hope Road not far from the Pleasant Valley Road area where he was last seen on Highway 101, had returned back to the Rice Road area where he lived and the alleged murder took place, and was also hiding out in the area of Paulding Forest.
He ended up in Carroll County before he was tracked via his cell phone, which he turned on and police were able to find a signal.
Based on the information provided, that is four counties that Blackmon hid while on the run from law enforcement on the murder warrant.
Bowman said further details about how he was able to evade capture are still under investigation, and that more details will be shared when officials are able to do so.
He said as well that the investigation into the events surrounding the shooting death of Ginger Leanne Green Blackmon on October 18 also remains underway and that those details will be forthcoming when available.
For the time being, Blackmon is expected to remain behind bars without bond on the murder charge, along with a felony murder (murder, malice murder, felony murder and murder in the second degree are listed as one charge) along with felonies for possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and cruelty to children in the third degree.
