Blue later arrested on Saturday, per PCSO booking info

A Rockmart man remained in jail with bond set at $5,000 after he was charged with speeding violations and getting away from an officer during a chase on Highway 278 on Friday evening, per reports filed over the weekend.
Khalif Dijuan Blue, 25, of 215 Delta Lane, Rockmart, remained in custody as of this posting on a $5,000 bond for misdemeanor charges of speeding in excess of maximum limits, reckless driving and a felony for fleeing or attempting to elude police after he was clocked by an officer going 90 mph on Highway 278 near the Rockmart area.
Police noted the BMW being driven by Blue had a temporary tag, and the officer got a good enough look at the driver to note he had dreads in the report.
“The vehicle continued to flee from (the officer) on Highway 278 headed toward Rockmart at a extremely high rate of speed while rapidly changing lanes in between other motorist with no regard for anybody’s safety,” the report stated.
The report also noted the driver tried to “brake check” the pursuing officer at high speed near Springdale Road. Police ultimately called off the chase near the area of Fairview Road in Rockmart.
The reporting officer did end up knowing the driver after getting more information about the tag, and attempted to call but never got a response. Warrants were taken out for Blue’s arrest following that.
Police did also get a tip from an anonymous citizen who said Blue had tossed something out of the window near Coot’s Lake during the case, but officers were unable to find anything.
Blue was later arrested on Saturday around the same time in the evening the chase began with officers the day before.
He remained in custody as of this posting.
