Jeffery Daniel Goforth

A man was jailed over the weekend after an argument became heated and he destroyed furniture and a glass door before police arrived and he briefly attempted to resist officers, according to a Polk County Police report.

On Saturday morning, April 29, police arrested Jeffery Daniel Goforth, 52, of a Rockmart address, when they were called out to a family member’s home on Old Cedartown Road.

Goforth was reported to have gotten into an argument with a family member, and got aggressive during the incident. When he was told that police were being called, he was reported to have said “well, I’ll give them something to take me to jail for.” He then destroyed several pieces of furniture and the glass storm door.

When the arresting officer arrived, Goforth was found bloody and initially refused to cooperate and based on previous interactions, the officer “guided him to the ground on his stomach” and a second officer arrived to help take him into custody.

Police had AdventHealth Redmond EMS clear Goforth to be taken onward to the Polk County Jail.

He remained in jail without bond set on a felony charge of criminal damage to property (over $1,000) and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers.
