A man accused of child molestation and sexual battery remained in the Polk County Jail with his bond denied after being arrested late last week, according to Polk County Police.

Detective Brandon Crawford reported that officers took Michael David Ridings, 47, of 332 Evans Drive, Buchanan, into custody early Thursday morning, December 9 on the felony charges of two counts of child molestation and two counts of sexual battery.

Crawford reported that a student within the Polk School District prior to the Thanksgiving break reported to officials that they had been touched inappropriately between March and April 2021.

Warrants were drawn after further investigation for Ridings’ arrest, and the patrol division last Thursday took him into custody without incident.

He remains in the Polk County Jail with bond denied on the felony charges.
