Police: Man injured in shooting at Rockmart trailer park, two arrested

A man was taken to the hospital for treatment last night and two more were jailed after a shooting incident at a Rockmart-area trailer park, according to Polk County Police.

Chief Kenny Dodd reported that Dandrae Davis, 39, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his shoulder after an altercation with two suspects became heated.

Dodd explained that Davis had gone outside sometime around 10:50 p.m. to confront Jeffrey Puckett and Nova Bryan to ask them to stop revving their engine loudly in the trailer park because his family was trying to sleep.

“At some point during the altercation, the victim was shot,” Dodd reported.

911 was called and Polk County Police along with Rockmart Police arrived to the trailer park at 2565 Cartersville Highway, and found the injured Davis in between two trailers. Emergency personnel got him to the hospital without further incident.

Afterward, police took Puckett, 59, of a Holly Springs Road address in Rockmart, into custody on felony charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, along with misdemeanors for DUI, discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and discharge of firearms on or near public highway or street. As of this posting, no bond had yet been set on Puckett’s charges.

Bryan, 47, was taken into custody as well. Booking information wasn’t immediately available at the time of this posting.
