
A Cedartown man was jailed by Polk County Police during a traffic stop after he was pulled over for an expired registration and a warrant, and was found with drugs in the car per reports.
PCPD arrested Jacob Allen Groves, 22, of 86 Cedar Oak Way, Cedartown, on multiple charges after he was stopped in Rockmart on Highway 278 at the intersection with Atlanta Highway for the expired registration and warrant on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2022.
Once stopped, police noted they smelled a “strong odor of marijuana” coming from the car, and Groves told officers that he had smoked in the car the night before.
When officers confirmed the warrant, they took Groves into custody and then began a search of his car, and found a bag of marijuana and a bag of methamphetamine, a pipe loaded with marijuana ready to light up, and several pipes used for smoking methamphetamine including a few in a green Crown Royal bag located in the trunk.
His car was allowed to be driven away by a family member. Groves was taken into custody and he was booked into jail on felony and misdemeanor charges including the warrant and suspended registration, possession of methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of marijuana, possession and use of drug-related objects, and a probation violation charge.
He remained in custody as of this posting without bond set.
