A Cedartown man was jailed on Friday afternoon when he was pulled over going 100 mph on Highway 113 and claimed that he was ‘late for work’ as his reason for driving so fast, per Polk County Police reports.

Police arrested Albaro Guzman, 20, of a Cedartown address on Friday afternoon, May 5, 2023 when he was pulled over by an officer clocked at 100 mph, but was estimated at one point to be going 102 mph in a 65 mph zone near Eastview Road in the Taylorsville area. He was initially spotted driving this fast in rainy conditions during the afternoon without his lights on by the reporting officer.

The report stated the car also had “dark tint and the taillight lenses were blacked out.”

When he was stopped, he told police that he was “late for work” and had the door tint checked on his Toyota Camry’s window tint.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Polk County Jail for a felony for speeding in excess of maximum limits, and misdemeanors for reckless driving, affixing materials that reduce or increase light transmission/reflectance of windows/windshieds, headlight requirements and tag lights required.

He was later released on a $2,560 bond after spending a day in the Polk County Jail.
