Police: Man jailed on warrants for elder abuse amid PCPD visit

Kim Bryan Mitchell

A Cedartown man was arrested at Polk County Police headquarters on Friday morning after it was found he had warrants when he was trying to get his vehicle out of impound, per reports.

Officials took Kim Bryan Mitchell, 53, 514 Olive St., Cedartown, was arrested at the headquarters while he was just finishing the paperwork to get his vehicle back on Friday morning around 11 a.m.

Reports stated that when Mitchell was asked for his license while completing the forms, he told police at the office he didn’t have it. They contacted 911 operators, who ran his information and found that he had warrants out for his arrest – including a charge for elder abuse – from the Cedartown Police. After his paperwork was done, police informed him about the warrant and that he was being taken into custody.

The warrants drawn up on August 11 by Cedartown Police for an incident unrelated to the impounding included charges of misdemeanor battery and felony elder abuse.

Though he did pay the bill to get his Jeep Cherokee out, police did note that since he wasn’t able to drive it away on Friday that it would be kept until he got back out of jail, or a relative could come get it.

He was being held with bond denied on the pair of charges as of this posting.
