A man who got away from a chase in 2022 from the Drug Suppression Unit was ultimately found and charged on warrants during a Wednesday afternoon arrest, according to Cedartown Police.

Officers at the time didn’t know they were chasing Dequaylon Montre Finley, 25, of Rockmart during the incident in 2022 in Rockmart while the Drug Suppression Unit was still operational and involved a Cedartown Police officer who was credited for Wednesday’s arrest.

When Finley fled from officers and ultimately got away at the time, those same officers found evidence he left behind.

Eventually the investigation turned up Finley’s name, and warrants were sought for his arrest.

Police finally caught up with Finley on Wednesday around noon, and took him into custody without any further incident.

He remains in custody with an $18,000 bond as of this posting on felony charges of possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and misdemeanors for possession of marijuana, obstruction of law enforcement officers and reckless conduct. He also faces a felony and misdemeanor charge for probation violation offenses.
