
A Cedartown-area man was back in police custody after his latest run-in with the law early on Tuesday morning, Per the Polk County Police.
James Gregory Williams, 51, of 2340 Johnson Lake Road, Cedartown, was arrested by the Polk County Police during a traffic stop around 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning, September 13, 2022.
He was pulled over by officers for failure to maintain lane after he crossed the center line and the fog lines while on Highway 278 at South Lewis Road. After talking to Williams, they noticed he was acting nervously and based on previous encounters with their suspect, they called in a K-9 unit to come sniff around the vehicle and determine if drugs were inside of his Toyota Tundra.
Williams initially refused to get out of the truck, and after being told several times to step out an officer at the scene unbuckled his seatbelt and “removed him from the vehicle.
The K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs somewhere, and Williams was ultimately searched and police found a magnetic box with two baggies of methamphetamine, and a glass pipe.
Williams was taken into custody and charged with felonies for possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He additional is being held on misdemeanor charges of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and failure to maintain lane.
His bond was set at $9,500 and remained in jail as of this posting.
