Polk County Police were told by a man at a Old Cedartown Road address on early Friday morning that his wife was responsible for him being at a random address in the middle of the night after he was taken into custody, according to reports.
Johnny Daren Vinson, 64, of a Cedartown-area address, was found by officers just before 3 a.m. on Friday, May 10 at an Old Cedartown Road property walking back toward the roadway.
Vinson claimed to officers that his wife had sent him a message to come to meet him there, and he handed over the phone to prove it. Police reported that when they looked at his phone, they couldn’t find a message. They took him into custody without incident and onward to the Polk County Jail on a single charge of loitering or prowling.
When police investigated further with the person who called 911 for help, they found that Vinson had shown up at random and began yelling for a woman named “Velma” to come to the front door. They told officers they had never seen Vinson or known him, or could explain why he had come there in the first place.
Vinson was released on a $1,000 bond for the misdemeanor charge over the weekend.
This was his second arrest in as many days. Vinson was booked into custody by Polk County Police in late April for a domestic assault. During that incident, the victim told officers they believed he might be suffering from mental health issues.
