Polk County Police arrested a pair over the holiday weekend after a traffic stop for a busted taillight, but ultimately were found with a rifle and drugs in the vehicle, according to reports.
Officers arrested Tiffany Nicole Williams, 41, and Regina Mae Hurley, 58, both of Cedartown-area addresses, on multiple charges after they were stopped by officers at the intersection of West Avenue and the Canal Street Extension on Sunday morning.
This was after officers spotted the pair pulling into the Silver Comet Trailhead by the Convenience Center and park for a short time before leaving again, leading the reporting officer to believe they might be up to something criminal. Though they could have left with a warning for the taillight, police got consent to look inside the Toyota Tacoma being driven by Williams.
Suspicions were confirmed when during a search amid the traffic stop officers located a .22 bolt action rifle in the center console, plus digital scales with suspected meth residue in Williams’ purse, and then found a baggie of suspected meth in Hurley’s pants pocket. Additional bags of meth and a canister of pills was also found inside Williams’ purse.
Both were taken into custody without incident.
Williams was released from jail as of this posting on a $27,000 bond set on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
Hurley remained in custody on a $10,000 bond for possession of methamphetamine and possession of firearm or knife by convicted felon or first offender.
