Police: Two jailed following altercation at South Lewis Road residence, man found with fentanyl

A man and woman who got into an altercation both ended up going to the Polk County Jail following an altercation where furniture was thrown and accusations of violence were hurled, and dangerous drugs were found during and after the arrest per Polk County Police reports from over the holiday weekend.

The incident that saw police show up late Thursday night and into Friday morning at the South Lewis Road address saw Melonie Joy Page, 53, and Keaneau John Rhodes, 30, both taken to jail.

Each accused the other of assaults, including the pointing of a handgun by Rhodes against Page, and Rhodes and a second individual not taken into custody of throwing furniture and a flower pot at their heads.

Police ultimately took both into custody as stories changed about the incident, but it was Rhodes who faces the more serious charges.

Before being put inside of a patrol car early Friday morning, May 26, police “noticed a bulge in his pants” while he was being searched. They found a $20 bill, then saw plastic baggies at his feet that was identified as suspected fentanyl. Officers attempted to locate the handgun that two individuals at the scene reported he had, but only found the holster.

That wasn’t all law enforcement found on him. During a more thorough search at the jail, Rhodes was ultimately found in possession of another three bags of fentanyl he attempted to hide in his private area. They also found another $877 in cash stashed with the drugs.

When jail staff weighed the drugs, it came out to be five grams in total.

Page was charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery for her part in the incident. She was booked and later released from the Polk County Jail on a $2,000 bond.

Rhodes faces much more serious charges, including felonies for aggravated assault, possession of a Schedule II drug, two counts of tampering with evidence, crossing state/county guard line with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent, Possession with intent of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, possession of firearm by convicted felon or first offender, possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and a misdemeanor for pointing or aiming gun or pistol at another.

He remained in jail with bond denied.
