POLICE: Two Rome men nabbed in traffic stop with firearm, drugs

Two Rome men were jailed early Sunday morning by Cedartown Police after they were found with drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop, according to reports.

Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome reported that officers arrested Adrian Lanier Moore, 33, and Taimar Alexander Ritchey, 37, both of Rome addresses were taken into custody during the May 19 traffic stop around 2:15 a.m.

The traffic stop at the gas station at the corner of Main Street and East Avenue saw the pair suddenly get out of the vehicle and made the officer suspicious. When they located a bag of marijuana on the ground near the passenger side of the car.

Officers took Moore and Ritchey into custody, and then began a search of the vehicle where they found a bag of suspected cocaine, pills and a firearm.

Moore and Ritchey both remained in custody on felony and misdemeanor charges.

Ritchey was charged with felonies for possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, possession of firearm by convicted felon or first offender, possession of cocaine and a misdemeanor charge of no insurance. His bond was set at $21,000.

Moore also remained in custody on a $28,000 bond for felony charges of possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, possession of firearm by convicted felon or first offender, possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and misdemeanor charges of tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana under an ounce.
