A man was booked into custody after he was accused of choking a woman during a domestic incident, according to Polk County Police reports.
Officers first had trouble finding out what happened when they encountered Russell Paul Sorrell, 40, of a Rockmart-area address.
Police initially came out to his residence when they received a report that might have involved domestic violence due to the nature of the call, and when they arrived they found horses and dogs behind a fence before the victim came toward the roadway.
The victim claimed that Sorrell was “heavily intoxicated and was acting crazy” after they had gotten into an argument that turned physical.
Sorrell claimed he never touched the victim, but based on wounds on his hands and marks on the victim’s neck, they were able to determine the victim’s story of being choked was likely the case.
Sorrell was taken into custody without further incident and remained in custody at the Polk County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor for obstructing or hindering persons making emergency telephone call.
Bond had not yet been set for Sorrell as of this posting.
