A Cedartown woman remains in the Polk County Jail on multiple felony charges after she was suspected to have passed off a counterfeit bill at a South Main Street convenience store last week, per Cedartown Police reports.

Officers took Brittnay Dawn Buttrum, 26, of 310 W. Queen St., Cedartown into custody at 1327 S. Main St. on Friday, February 19 just after midnight.

Police arrived at the store after receiving a complaint over the counterfeit bill, and found Buttrum when she was leaving the store. She was stopped by an officer and asked to go back into the store, and when she was being cuffed began to “passively resist” officers, but was sat down in the squad car without any further incident.

She told officers during the arrest that she had “a gun and some type of drugs” in her bra, per the report. A second female officer was called to the scene, who removed the firearm and suspected drugs.

Police also retrieved the counterfeit bill, and searched Buttrum’s book bag she was carrying at the time of the arrest as well. Police found a vape pen suspected to be filled with THC Oil, a digitial scale, the firearm and other drugs as well that were placed in evidence for further testing.

Buttrum remained in the Polk County Jail on a $32,000 bond and was ultimately charged with felonies for possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or first offender, possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance, crossing the state/county guard line with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent and first degree forgery.

She also faces misdemeanor charges of possession and use of drug related objects and obstructing law enforcement officers.
