Officials announced on Facebook this afternoon that they were informed of yet another COVID-19 positive that has required another building to be cleaned and closed for a day.
County officials who are familiar with the situation reported that a new positive for the virus was found in someone who had visited the courthouse “late last week,” but couldn’t determine what day it was exactly. Anyone who visited the Polk County Courthouse No. 2 for business of any kind during the past week should monitor themselves for symptoms as a precautionary measure, the official added.
This marks the third county building to have to be closed due to someone coming into the building unknowingly a carrier of the virus. On Monday, the County Administration office in downtown Cedartown and the Public Works facility behind the Polk County Police Department on Cline Ingram Jackson Road were both shuttered after Sunday cleaning and a day to allow the building to air out.
Officials are following the same procedure for the Courthouse, shuttering it for cleaning and then allowing a day before work resumes within. The building reopens on Friday, July 17.
Additionally, the Superior Court Clerk’s Office is closing down until Monday, July 20. Those with questions can call Stacie M. Baines at the Clerk’s office at 770-749-2114.
