Polk County rings in Christmas with third annual event

The Christmas holiday has come and gone, but the magic was in the air despite the extreme chill of winter’s arrival as bell-ringers got out again to continue an annual tradition in downtown Cedartown.

Ring the Bell Polk was back again for its third consecutive year at Remix at Moore’s as the local confectionary opened its doors once again on Christmas Eve for a party to ring in Santa’s overnight ride around the world.

The annual event organized by Jannah Crenshaw started in 2020 during the depths of COVID-19 as a way to spread cheer throughout a county that was going through tough times, and maybe help boost the spirits of many not feeling like celebrating Christmas.

Even as Polk County was experiencing one of its coldest run-ups to Christmas ever, it didn’t stop Crenshaw and many others from coming out to take part.

The annual event had the support of local cities like Cedartown and Aragon, who passed proclamations honoring Ring the Bell Polk’s efforts to spread holiday cheer far and wide.

Crenshaw hopes the annual event will continue to grow and bring in larger crowds during Christmases to come.

The annual event is celebrated at 6 p.m. each Christmas Eve. Participants are asked to ring a bell for two minutes to help encourage the spirit of the season and give Santa Claus just a little bit extra holiday magic to help him on his midnight ride across the world delivering presents for children.
