A Rockmart Middle School student put up a valiant effort today and took the top prize in the Polk School District’s 2021 Spelling Bee.
Eighth grader Cynthia Crowe won the championship for the Spelling Bee and moves onto the regional level to compete against other students around Northwest Georgia who won their individual district bees.
The bee, sponsored by the Polk County Rotary Club, featured winners from each school in participation in the HON Community Room at the Polk County College and Career Academy campus at Cedartown High School.
Marcus Ross of Cherokee Elementary School was the runner-up for the district.
Additional competitors included Isabella Palacios of Cedartown Middle School, Shyane King of Eastside Elementary School, Julissa Ramirez Velasquez of Northside Elementary School, Lane Slater of Van Wert Elementary School, Will Harrison of Westside Elementary School, and Valentin Rangel of Youngs Grove Elementary School.
The regional spelling bee will be held in February.
