No one has gotten into the race for any of the Aragon City Council seats so far, and Rockmart will have a Mayor’s race for the 2023 municipal ballots.
James Payne qualified today to get into the race to run for Mayor of Rockmart, and he’ll be taking on incumbent Mayor Sherman Ross who qualified this morning as the first candidate into the Board of Elections office.
Polk Today reached out to Payne, who wasn’t yet ready to comment.
They were also joined on the Rockmart municipal ballot by incumbent Council Member Rick Stone, who is seeking to keep his spot on the council.
Marty Robinson’s seat is also up this year.
In Cedartown, only Dale Tuck has signed up for the 2023 ballot so far. Commissioner Andrew Carter announced just an hour ago that he does not plan to retain his seat when his term expires at year’s end.
Qualifying’s opening day wrapped up around 30 minutes ago, and will start back again for municipal elections on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Board of Elections office at 144 West Ave., Cedartown.
