Mr. Ralph G. Thomason, age 91, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Saturday evening, October 19, 2024.

Mr. Thomason was born in Rockmart on June 17, 1933, a son of the late Hoake Thomason and Verdell Wright Thomason. He had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Thomason was a veteran of the Rockmart Police Department and the Polk County Police department, serving between the two for 29 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved animals, working his farm and growing vegetables in his garden. Mr. Thomason’s favorite hobby was spending time with his children and grandchildren, all of whom he loved.

In addition to his parents, Mt. Thomason was preceded in death by a brother, Anderson Thomason, and a sister, Bobbie Sparks.

Mr. Thomason is survived by his wife, JoAnn Davidson Thomason, whom he married in June of 1967; daughter, Teresa Childers; son, Danny (Carolyn) Elliott; brother, Freddie Thomason; sister, Alline Jones. Six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomason will be held on Wednesday afternoon, October 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with military rites conferred by the Honor Guard from Brown-Wright Post 12 of the American Legion.

Mr. Thomason’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will include Mason Williams, Austin Crumley, Tyler Crumley, Houston Childers, Devan Childers, Payton Crumley, and Greg Sparks. Scott Sparks and Cody Hutson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
