The Rockmart Cultural Arts Center invited the public to come out and enjoy a reception for their ongoing “Wonders of Wood: Carvings and Turnings” exhibit going on now at the Rockmart Art Gallery this Saturday, and there’s a twist to the night’s event.
The August 7, 2021 reception being held from 4 to 7 p.m. will include a wood-turning demonstration being provided by Nick Cook. He’ll be making spinning tops, and he’ll be making upward of 100 of them to giveaway during the reception.
Rome’s Craig Conway will also be playing during the free event, providing a selection of music on his guitar during the evening
Artwork featured in this latest exhibit at the Rockmart Art Gallery includes items from locals Chadwick Bentley, Lee Burch, Nick Cook, Dan Fitzpatrick, R. Denny Garner, Pat Houser, Russell Houser, Bob Jenkins, Joe Maddox, Anslie Philpot, Glen Philpot, Bill Sheridan, Lee Simpkins, Jeremy Smith, Stacy Williams, and Sonny York.
Those unable to make it to the reception can still check out the exhibit through August 26 during museum hours. Check out the RCAC Facebook page to keep up to date on upcoming exhibits, classes and events.
Additional thanks were made on the RCAC Facebook page to Anslie Philpot, Todd Maddox, Gary McBryde, Lee Simpkins, and Mark and Melody Terry for letting the gallery display some of their collections.
The show opened at the beginning of July, and will be followed in early September through October exhibit of a solo showing for Ginger Lowery.
