A Birmingham, Alabama man was arrested and later released on a trio of charges after he told police he ate a joint instead of letting officers find it, according to reports.
Robery Gary Jordan, 39, of a Birmingham address, was taken into custody on Friday night, June 7, during a traffic stop at the intersection of Antioch and Runyon Roads in Polk County.
Per the report, officers stopped Jordan initially for failing to dim their headlights, and once stopped immediately smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.
When officers asked Jordan when the last time he smoked was, he told them hours before but when they asked to see his tongue when they didn’t believe him based on the way he was acting, he fessed up to having swallowed a joint to avoid police finding it in the car.
Jordan was run through field sobriety tests before being taken into custody. Police did not provide any information on the child endangerment charge, but Jordan did have a warrant for his arrest found by officers once he was pulled over and his information run through the state crimes database.
He faces charges of child endangerment, driving under the influence of drugs and failure to dim headlights – all misdemeanors.
Jordan was later released on a $2,500 bond.
