REPORT: Aragon woman booked on drug charges after found with stolen car

Lindsey Clay

An Aragon woman remained in jail on multiple charges after she took a car without permission and rode around with drugs before being stopped last Friday, according to reports from Polk County Police.

Officers received a report that Lindsey Clay, 29, of an Aragon-area address, was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle in the area of White River Road after she took it without permission from the owner.

After police went looking for the car without results, they went toward the owner’s house and ran into it not far from the residence, and pulled Clay and a passenger over.

Police immediately ready Clay her Miranda warning and asked how she got the keys to the car, when she admitted she took them from the home and didn’t have permission to use the car at all. The owners were called and told officers they wanted to press charges.

That became moot after officers searched the car before turning it back over. They found a bag that included some loose change, but also marijuana, Xanax and methamphetamine. Prior to the search, police had allowed the passenger in the car to leave.

Following the discovery of the drugs, police took Clay onward to the Polk County Jail without further incident.

She was booked into jail and remained there on a $12,000 bond for felonies for theft by taking, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. Clay also faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.
