REPORT: Argument turns into domestic incident, two jailed

A pair who were involved in a domestic incident on Wednesday night were booked into the Polk County Jail on charges that both were combatants after their argument turned physical, per police reports.

Officers arrested both Christopher Eugene Cosby, 46, and Sheryl Fuller Cosby, 49, of Rockmart addresses on Wednesday evening around 9:30 p.m. after they responded to a residence when neighbors complained the pair were fighting.

Per the report, police took Christopher into custody first after they arrived and found him with a large scratch on his chest and hearing statements that “everything was fine now” from him when he encountered officers outside.

Officers then found Sheryl inside, a mess in the kitchen and a story that they had difficulty following.

Based on statements made by both Christopher and Sheryl, the pair had been drinking and got into an argument over a misunderstanding during a conversation. It got heated, and then physical as items were knocked over, a bed allegedly flipped and both sides becoming violent.

Since both gave differing stories of who was at fault and accused each other in the altercation, officers took both into custody and charged each with misdemeanor simple battery.

Christopher Cosby was later found to have a warrant out of Floyd County, and also had a TPO order filed by Sheryl Cosby to stay away from her.

Police added a felony charge for aggravated stalking due to the incident as well.

Sheryl Cosby remained in custody as of this posting in the single charge with a $1,000 bond.

Christopher Cosby’s bond was set at $2,000 in the incident.
