A Polk County woman told police back in August that an Atlanta woman tried to use her identity to buy a house, and now that suspect is in custody according to reports.
Arrest reports released this morning confirmed that Ingrinesia Jabrile Mathis, 33, of an Atlanta address, was booked into the Polk County Jail on felony charges of identity theft fraud when using/possessing identifying info concerning a person and unlawful to possess, display or use any false, fraudulent, or altered ident document (2nd or subq offense.)
She remained in custody on a $4,000 bond as of this posting.
Mathis being booked into jail in Polk County stemmed from an August 9 report made by a Vinson Mountain woman who told police she had evidence that Mathis tried to use her identity to buy a home.
Per the report, the victim told officers that she was contacted by an Atlanta realtor on LinkedIn that Mathis had “all of her information” including a driver’s license with Mathis’ picture to try and buy a house.
The victim took some investigative steps on her own and tracked down a Facebook page, and then ultimately a true identity, for Mathis after getting a copy of the fake driver’s license from the realtor.
