Jesse Wayne Milner, 27, of a Buchanan address, was jailed by the Polk County Police on Thursday evening, January 12, 2023 after he was stopped by officers near Petro’s in Cedartown on Highway 27.

Police reported that around 7 p.m., 911 received a call to stop the Chevrolet Suburban that was heading northbound on Highway 27 after a caller inside the vehicle reported they had been struck, and the driver refused to take them home. Children were inside the car and witnessed the incident, reports added.

The incident was reported to have taken place inside of Haralson County, but Sheriff’s deputies to the south were unable to stop the vehicle before it crossed into Polk County.

Ultimately, Polk County Police were able to stop the SUV and immediately took Milner into custody and questioned the victim about what happened.

Per reports, the pair got into an argument that escalated, and Milner was accused of striking the victim in the head which left a visible knot, and refused to take her back home.

The victim asked multiple times to go home, but Milner insisted they take his child onward to his mother’s in Alabama. Police reported the victim was able to call 911 and Milner attempted to get the phone away from her, but was unable to do so.

Police ultimately charged Milner with kidnapping here in Polk County. He was taken to the Polk County Jail without further incident and booked on the lone felony charge. A $2,000 bond was set on the charge.

He faces additional warrants for the assault that happened on the road in Haralson County once he is released from custody locally.
