A man who told police that if he didn’t make it to work on time he would be fired didn’t make it at all after he was taken into custody for speeding and reckless driving on Saturday, according to reports.
Polk County Police arrested Tyberius Leshawn Morris, 34, of a Carrollton address, was spotted around 10:15 a.m. by officers on Highway 113 who watched as Morris behind the wheel of a Toyota Tacoma weaved in and out of traffic and based on LIDAR readings was traveling at 100 mph at the time.
Officers caught up with Morris at the intersection with Hill Creek Road. He was taken out of the car and detained, and explained to police while being questioned that he was going so fast and driving the way he was because “he was late for work and if he did not make it in time, he may be fired.”
Morris never made it to clock into his job, as Polk County Police officers cuffed him and took him onward to the Polk County Jail on charges of speeding in excess of maximum limits and reckless driving.
He was later released the same day on a $2,110 bond.
