REPORT: Cartersville teen speeding on Hwy. 278 stopped with no license

A teen driver was taken into custody on Tuesday evening after he told police he had no license when he was caught speeding on Highway 278, according to reports.

Polk County Police took Caleb Austin Hunt, 17, of a Cartersville address into custody on Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. when he was stopped an officer running radar on Highway 278 near Yorkville Highway.

The officer clocked Hunt going 88 in a 65 at the time, and once he had him stopped asked for his license.

Hunt is alleged in the report to have told police he was “in the process to getting (his license.)”

Police took the teen into custody without further incident.

He was charged with misdemeanors for speeding in excess of maximum limits and driving without valid license.

Since he is under 18, information about his release from the Polk County Jail wasn’t immediately available.
