REPORT: Cedartown man jailed on several charges after fleeing from domestic in February

Jamal Cartez Newman

Law enforcement caught up with a man who was accused of attempting to strangle a victim during a domestic dispute in February, according to Polk County Police reports.

Jamal Cartez Newman, 28, of a Cedartown address, was taken into custody on Thursday on warrants and probation violations after police found him behind a building on Buchanan Highway. Police did not report any incident during his arrest.

Newman was wanted by PCPD after a February 22 incident where a victim accused him of attempting to strangle them during an argument, and when trying to flee grabbing them and pulling them back inside of a building at the same Buchanan Highway address.

After the assault, the victim was able to finally flee and Newman got away from the scene in February before he could be taken into custody.

Newman remains behind bars without bond set as of this posting on felony charges of probation violation, aggravated assault, kidnapping and battery.
