A Carrollton man was caught in late March with a receipt and candy he purchased on another’s card without permission, according to a Cedartown Police report.
Andrew Johnny Castro, 29, of a Carrollton address, was arrested while working with a construction crew along Highway 27 in Cedartown on March 28, and was booked into the Polk County Jail on five counts of felony financial transaction card fraud.
Castro is alleged by Cedartown Police to have taken a cash app card while the victim was working and used it at Murphy USA and Walmart for several small-dollar transactions, including the purchase of candy, a carton of cigarettes, used it at a coke machine and then again to purchase 2 more Monster energy drinks and a bag of Taki’s.
When police ultimately caught up with him after reviewing video evidence of the transactions from security cameras, they found him with the receipt for one of the purchases along with the candy in his pocket. After being read his rights, he refused to cooperate with officers afterward.
He was released after two days in jail on a $5,000 bond on the felony charges.
