A Dallas man was booked into the Polk County Jail on Saturday evening after Polk County Police chased him from Everett Mountain Road all the way to a Waddell Road residence, at times reaching speeds of 80 mph on two-lane country roads.
Polk County Police arrested Jacob Wayne Mattingly, 36, of a Dallas address on November 25 after he finally stopped his motorcycle in a driveway on Waddell Road. He was pulled from his motorcycle and taken into custody when police finally had him stopped.
According to the report, Mattingly was blocking an intersection at Everett Mountain Road and Browning Road when a group of motorcycles were going through. Despite the officer attempting to get him to move out of the roadway and then initiate a traffic stop, Mattingly is alleged to have taken off at high speed from police.
During the chase he “almost wrecked himself out multiple times due to his vehicle speed,” the report stated. He also passed multiple motorcycles and vehicles in an attempt to get away, and ultimately hit 91 mph on Morgan Valley Road, and used the ditch to get past officers attempting to block his way.
After he finally stopped in the Waddell Road driveway and was taken into custody, Mattingly was checked out by EMS and cleared to be taken into custody.
Police asked Mattingly if he would be willing to provide a breath sample since they believed he had been under the influence, but he refused. He also refused any blood samples being drawn once at the Polk County Jail and booked into custody.
When they searched the motorcycle, police did find open containers of alcohol and an aluminum cup they believe also had suspected alcohol within.
Mattingly remained in custody as of this posting with a $12,000 bond.
He was being held on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense, and misdemeanor charges of obstructing an intersection, improper passing on the left, failure to maintain lane, wrong side of road, failure to stop at stop sign, speeding in excess of maximum limits, driving while license withdrawn, DUI alcohol less safe and obstructing law enforcement officers.
