REPORT: Drugs fueled fake 911 text by suspect charged for improper use

Nicholas Allen Wynn

A Cedartown man was jailed by Polk County Police early on Friday morning after he made a call in early morning hours claiming a crime was being committed at his house – but really it was just the drugs he was on causing the behavior.

Polk County Police found nothing wrong at the residence of Nicholas Allen Wynn, 41, of a Cedartown-area address early on Friday morning, September 13, 2024. He had sent a text to 911 claiming that “someone was in the house” and they found Wynn in his car when they arrived.

He told officers that relatives were inside, and claimed another individual was inside but when being questioned by police “appeared to be under the influence,” reports stated.

PCPD talked to the relatives and found nothing wrong – one of them had been sleeping when they went into search – and an explanation of what was happening came to light.

One of the relatives told officers that Wynn had been using methamphetamine laced with fentanyl, and the combination was causing him to “go crazy” and “he has been doing this for a while now.”

Attempts to evict him from the home had so far not been successful, including seeking out a temporary protection order.

The text that Wynn sent to 911 ultimately took officers away from other calls that had to be covered by the Cedartown Police Department at the time, the report stated. Due to this fact, the officers on scene charged Wynn with improper use of the 911 system and took him into custody without further incident.

Wynn was later released on a $500 bond for the misdemeanor charge.
