Report: Eight arrested in Selective Enforcement Unit operation on New Harmony Road

Man charged in chase’s license found in camper at residence

An operation involving the recently-formed Polk County Selective Enforcement Unit saw eight people arrested on multiple charges including methamphetamine possession, and the license of a man who was charged last week in a chase was also found as well when they raided the New Harmony Road residence.

Per a Polk County Police report, officers raided the 2 New Harmony Road residence on Wednesday, November 24 at 5:44 p.m. and when they got there took eight people into custody: David Carter, Jamie Forrister, Gergory Hilyer, Jennifer Carter, Melissa Jordan, James Blake, Jimmy Garner and Franklin Carter were all cuffed.

While searching the residence, officers noted that they found multiple glass pipes with meth, multiple bags of suspected meth, a THC vape, a marijuana grinder, syringes filled with suspected meth, digital scales and “unknown pills.”

Items were photographed and collected for evidence, and police also noted finding a bucket that was being used as a toilet in the room of David Carter, who is 67.

“Also located in one of the campers were Michael Ganues ID near suspected methamphetamine,” the report noted. “We have prior knowledge that Ganues lives in the camper.”

Ganues was arrested last week on multiple charges after he nearly hit an officer and fled from a traffic stop in his truck, and was later apprehended at Lefevers Road and Prior Station Road after a Department of Natural Resources helicopter got involved as well.

After collecting evidence and the eight suspects in the raid into custody on Wednesday evening, November 24 were taken to the Polk County Jail and charged.

David Edward Carter, 67, of 2 New Harmony Road, was jailed on charges of two counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

Because all the others were also at the residence and younger than David Carter, they were also charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and cruelty to persons 65 or older.

Franklin Adam Carter, 45; Jennifer Lynn Carter, 42; Melissa Ann Jordan, 37; Jimmy Carl Garner, 64, all of 2 Harmony Road, and Jamie Jeanine Forrister, 42, of 1307 Cherokee Road, Cedartown, Gregory Franklin Hilyer, 51, of 843 Mountain Home Road, Cedartown, James Brian Blake, 40, of 98 Bradshaw Drive, all remained jailed on the above charges with bond denied as of this posting.

Ganues also remained in jail as of this posting with bond denied on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from the chase and methamphetamine possession.
