Report: Five jailed after tips lead to drug discovery in a barn

The Polk County Police got a tip about drug use inside of a barn and caught five people in the act over the weekend discovering methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the process, according to reports.

Police arrested Stephen Charles Corn, 42; Waylyn Young-Lamar Coats, 22; Lachancey Colon Williams, 40; Tia Edwards, 23; and Brandy Nicole Bradford, 37 on drug charges in the early morning hours on Sunday, October 17 after they were tipped off that drug use was happening in a barn on property on Antioch Road.

When officers arrived, they found lights on and doors open and announced themselves, and saw two people come out of the main room and ultimately brought them to a stable door where three more people were found within.

Police got all of the five together and explained why they were there, and Coats explained to officers that he had permission from the property owner to be in the barn, even during the early hour.

Police talked to the property owner on the phone after Coats made a call, and were advised that Coats had permission to be there, but not with any guests. They got permission to search the barn, and found a bag of methamphetamine stuffed under one mattress, and three glass pipes hidden in a drawer in the barn as well. One of those pipes was a lightbulb that had been modified to smoke methamphetamine.

Officers also found a set of digital scales as well.

All five denied any knowledge of the meth or the pipes, and all were taken into custody without further incident.

Corn, of 825 Prior Station Road, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and remained in jail without bond set as of this posting.

Coats, of 230 E. Fairmount Ave., Cedartown, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for commission of a crime and had no bond set as of Monday morning. Both charges were felonies.

Williams, of 133 Cobb St., Cedartown, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and had not yet had bond set as of this posting.

Edwards, of 1285 Mountain Home Road, Cedartown, Williams, of 133 Cobb St., Cedartown, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and had not yet had bond set as of this posting.

Bradford, of 111 Fincher Street, Cave Spring, Williams, of 133 Cobb St., Cedartown, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and had not yet had bond set as of this posting.

Great work but you haven’t got started yet. These young people just don’t understand what they’re doing to themselves or they’re family. Keep up the good work.
