
A jailer who just started in August found himself on the wrong side of the bars briefly this weekend after being booked for domestic violence allegations. He also found out he was losing his job because of the incident.
Polk County Police arrested Johnny Ray Angle, 21, of a Cedartown-area address after midnight on Saturday, December 9. He was booked on misdemeanor charges of simple battery under the family violence act and cruelty to children in the third degree.
Angle was released on a $2,000 bond after spending some time in jail on Saturday, December 9.
Though he was informed he was being fired following his arrest early Saturday morning, paperwork to complete the process is being finished today per officials at the Polk County Sheriffs Office.
Angle was accused by a victim of domestic violence incidents dating back to May. The victim told police these incidents occurred in front of children, and she additionally could prove drug use as well.
PCPD were told by the victim that she was able to provide video and photographic evidence of some of the incidences that happened between May and August, and accused Angle of abusing Adderall after he “cleaned up” to get a job at the Sheriff’s Office, and went back to his behavior prior to getting hired on as a jailer.
That evidence was forwarded to Polk County Police as well.
The victim also told officers she as afraid to come forward because Angle told her that “no one would believe her due to him working at the Sheriff’s Office and because he knew people at the court house.”
During his arrest, officers did note finding a green straw in Angle’s wallet that officers believe had drug residue on it. No drug charges were filed against Angle during his arrest for the alleged paraphernalia. Angle did admit if it was used for anything, it would be Adderall.
