Report: Man arrested for domestic incident tried to bribe officer to let him go

Sean Ray Wood

An Aragon man remains in the Polk County Jail with bond denied after he was arrested for a domestic dispute on Thursday, and tried to bribe the arresting officer on the way to booking according to Polk County Police reports.

Sean Ray Wood, 45, of an Aragon address, was taken into custody around noon by Polk County Police after they arrived at an Aragon-area address for a domestic violence call. A witness to events called 911 to report a couple having a heated dispute in the front yard, and when officers arrived the pair were back inside and still shouting loud enough for officers to hear.

Police threatened to break the door down, and once both parties came outside the officers saw injuries on both and called Redmond EMS for help. Wood and the victim were checked over by paramedics before officers took Wood into custody for felony false imprisonment, and misdemeanor battery and criminal trespass.

The report stated that Wood admitted to drinking several beers and also broke a glass candle holder within the house as well.

Wood made the situation worse for himself while on the way to jail. Police reported that he told officers “nearly 20 times” that Wood would pay $500 to get out of custody and be returned home, and upped the ante to $600 when he arrived at the jail for booking.

The officer continued to tell Wood “no” to the bribe, and had 911 record the incident in their reporting to establish charges for bribery against him, along with on the police dash cam.
