Polk County Police arrested a man who was caught stealing a leaf blower he planned to sell, per reports filed midweek.
Jose Guadalupe Segura, 21, of a Cedartown address, was taken into custody on Tuck Street after he was caught by a witness with the leaf blower in hand trying to get away on a bicycle. The witness stopped Segura and held in place until officers arrived.
The arresting officer reported that Segura said after being read his rights that he was homeless, and took the leaf blower and a T wrench to sell because “he needed some money.”
The leaf blower and tool was returned to the owner promptly, and Segura was taken onward to the Polk County Jail without incident.
Segura remained in custody as of this posting without bond set on the misdemeanor charge of theft by taking.
It was his second arrest this month on the charge. He was previously booked into custody on misdemeanor charges of reckless conduct and discharge of firearms on or near public highway or street by the Cedartown Police in an afternoon incident on May 14.
He was released from the Polk County Jail after two days in jail on a $4,000 bond.
